Some brewers are getting into the Black Friday spirit by releasing special beers on the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.
In Bradenton, Motorworks Brewing is marking Black Friday by releasing its first bottled beer. The brewery at 1014 9th St. W. will be selling Thresher, a barleywine aged in Jack Daniel's barrels for six months, and Tami, a tamarind sour brown ale that was also aged in Jack Daniel's barrels.
Both will be available in in 22-ounce bottles for $15 each starting at 11 a.m. There's a limit of two bottles of each style per customer. If you don't get a bottle the beers will also be available on draft in the brewery's tasting room. Motorworks will also be releasing draft-only Shine Runners Breakfast imperial stout, Breakfast Stout and Peppermint Sweet Stout.
Here's head brewer Bob Haa Jr. bottling the beers:

Also on Friday in Bradenton, Darwin Brewing Co. will be tapping 10 treatments of their Summadayze IPA created by new assistant brewer Leslie Shore. Here they are:
• Passion Fruit
• Mango-Infused
• Raspberry
• Toasted Fennel
• Peruvian Walnut
• Hibiscus
• Coffee
• Tangerine/Pineapple
• El Dorado Hop
• Pequin Pepper
The brewery at 803 17th Ave. W. opens at noon.
In Sarasota, JDub's Brewing Co. (1215 Mango Ave.) will probably still have some of Das Gloop, the beer it brewed in collaboration with Terrapin Beer Co. The brewery at 1215 Mango Ave. was scheduled to tap it Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Chicago brewery Goose Island will release its heralded Bourbon County barrel-aged beers at Black Friday events across the country. They will be selling an imperial stout, barleywine and coffee stout, all which have been aged in bourbon barrels. Goose Island was one of the first to age beers in bourbon barrels, starting back in the early 1990s.
I'd never had the beers, so imagine my surprise when a package arrived on my desk last week: Goose Island sent me (unsolicited) a bottle of each of the beers. The imperial stout was the best by far, followed by the barleywine and the coffee stout.
Goose Island's local distribution partner, Gold Coast Eagle, sent me a list of stores and bars that will be selling and/or serving the beers on Black Friday:

Prices weren't available, but I think you'll spend at least $10 per 12-ounce bottle at ABC or Total Wine. (Though a beer fan on my Facebook page says he paid $5 or $6 per bottle last year, so hopefully my guesstimate is off.) Last year there was a line outside Total Wine & More before the store opened, and the beers sold out quickly.
